The Hotel Elysee. It’s a tricky business to write a hotel review. I mean, think about it. How much can one say? There is a room, a bed, bath and hopefully, it’s clean and comfortable with a sense of style. That about wraps it up, don’t you think? But every now and then we come across a hotel(s) with a little something extra that makes us sit up and take notice. And that’s the case when it comes to the 4 boutique hotels in the Library Hotel Collection in New York City; each offering the finest in accommodations.
The Hotel Elysee
From the moment we stepped in to the lobby, we knew we were in for a wonderful stay. Quiet, serene decor with a French flair welcomed us.
Located just a few blocks from Broadway, our stay at the Hotel Elysee afforded us the time to walk to/from the Ed Sullivan Theater where we were audience members of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Being so close to the theater was especially nice because after standing in line for two solid hours, we were able to walk back to the hotel, relax and put up our feet for just a bit before our big evening at the theater.
The Presidential Suite
We were thrilled to discover we had been upgraded to the Presidential Suite. If I remember correctly, the woman who owned the hotel building lived in the apartment – now the Presidential Suite – for years. There are stories to be told for certain. As I ran my fingers over the books on the library shelves, I wanted to know her story. And, oh how I wished one of us could tickle the ivories of the baby grand piano!
Wine & Cheese
Our first full day in New York City was spent primarily focused on The Late Show, so once we left the theater we were done for the day and couldn’t think of anything other than putting up our feet. That standing in line can really wear one out! Lucky for us, the Hotel Elysee was still serving wine and cheese in the hotel’s lovely reception room. A glass of bubbly with some yummy cheese and crackers and we were good to go. Nowhere.
That’s right, our suite in the hotel was the perfect ending to a long day of having way too much fun. We sipped our champagne, nibbled our cheese and slipped back to our lovely suite where we relaxed and reminisced about our day before drifting off to sleep in this fabulous canopied bed.
The Hotel Elysee definitely made us sit up and take notice, what a wonderful stay!
